East Asian countries see closer financial ties

The annual conference for deputy ministers of finance and vice-presidents of central banks from ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), China, Japan and South Korea was held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from Dec 12 to 13.

Representatives from the ASEAN secretariat, ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank and other international organizations attended the conference.

All the participants agreed to deepen financial cooperation among ASEAN countries, China, Japan and South Korea, promote the economic integration of East Asia and maintain economic and financial stability in the region.

Such financial cooperation among ASEAN countries, China, Japan and South Korea is an important economic cooperation mechanism in East Asia, with its focuses on constructing a regional financial safety net, monitoring the regional macroeconomy and promoting the development of local bond markets.
